The Lyme Art Association has included a painting by Bruce Wood in their winter show, Deck the Walls. The exhibition marks another step in establishing Bruce Wood as a major regional artist.

FRANKLIN, MA, December 31, 2010

Contemporary impressionist painter Bruce Wood is a new Associate Member of the The Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Connecticut. His acrylic painting "Heading In" was juried into their "Deck The Walls" show for 2010.

Inclusion in Members' shows is not guaranteed. Each painting is juried by a committee of senior "Elected Artist" Members. As such, the inclusion of a new Associate Member's work is an honor.

Bruce Wood is a Boston native who moved to Chicago in the 1970's to study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he received a Master of Fine Arts Degree. He stayed in the Midwest, opening the former Fenway Galleries in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. He is widely known for his paintings of Lake Michigan, which are in collections across the world.

He recently moved back to Massachusetts and is now painting views of New England villages and harbors. In 2010 Bruce Wood was elected into the Cape Cod Art Association, and the Wellesley Society of Artists. His inclusion in the Lyme Art Association's exhibition is another step toward establishing him as a major New England artist.

The mission of the Lyme Art Association is to advance the cause of representational fine arts by owning, maintaining, and preserving an historic building and galleries in Old Lyme, Connecticut, holding art exhibitions, and conducting educational programs for the benefit of the local community and the general public.
