Securus Announces iPhone Application Version 2.0 for SpotLight and SpotLITE GPS Pet Locators

The next generation iPhone application designed to help track and recover pets.

2011-01-01
CARY, NC, January 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) Securus, Inc. announced today the general availability of Version 2.0 of the iPhone mobile application for SpotLight and SpotLITE GPS Pet Locators. Last week, Securus announced the release of the latest BlackBerry application for SpotLight and SpotLITE GPS. Securus' GPS pet protection systems are the only products that combine GPS tracking technology with 24/7 recovery services provided by American Kennel Club Companion Animal Recovery, paving the way home for the millions of pets that go missing each year. The SpotLITE GPS locator was released in September, and the new iPhone application seamlessly integrates SpotLITE tracking and location information for the convenience of our customers.

"We listened to our customers and have added additional functionality to the latest version of the iPhone application, including a way for owners with both SpotLight and SpotLITE devices to easily track their pets on one interface," Elena Amboyan, Securus Product Lead, said. "With access to both locators on the iPhone, owners have the peace of mind knowing they can find their pets at any moment, even when they are on the go."

Like Version 1.0 of the application, Version 2.0 gives pet owners real-time location updates and a location history. In addition, tracking mode provides turn-by-turn directions if the dog is on the run. With the application, SpotLight users can turn the LED light on and off remotely, and owners with either GPS locator can manage their alerts and battery life. This free mobile application gives owners access to every feature of the Pet Tracking System website without the need for a computer.

"We are dedicated to serving and investing in providing state-of-the-art technology to help give people the peace of mind that they will not lose their loved ones, " Securus CEO Chris Newton said. "This application is another way to reduce pet owners' anxiety when they have to be away from their pets."

SpotLight and SpotLITE are lightweight, compact GPS devices that easily attach to a dog's collar and use a unique system of SafeSpots to alert owners via email or text message when a pet leaves the preconfigured boundary. To ensure immediate recovery, owners receive their pets' real-time locations, in addition to turn-by-turn directions to their pets. SpotLight and SpotLITE also come with a lifetime enrollment in AKC CAR's around-the-clock recovery service and a "rescue" button that connects a found pet with their owners and the recovery service.
