The Book Club Boutique is Soho's hippest literary salon. The BCB motto is Books, Booze and Boogie-Woogie and it's unique every time, with Salena Godden as the resident poet and host, composing and performing something completely new at each event. Every event is themed and this is no square affair; there is dancing, merriment and mingling over cocktails, plus different DJ's and live music.

In December 2010 THE BOOK CLUB BOUTIQUE BAND collaborate with friends from down under. The salon's resident band, kick off each show with The Book Club Boutique's very own theme tune. On bass guitar we find the sassy New York tattooed chic of Max Doray and Salena Godden doing the wild thing on vocals - it's a deliberately catchy show. Following a storming summer in 2009 of touring the UK festival circuit, this ozzie interpretation stars the girls from SHINY SHINY fame - the brilliance of Patty Bom on drums, Melania Jack on guitar. This all-girl line-up kicks ass. And now The Book Club Boutique Band, are reunited with their Australian cohorts they are booking shows along the East Coast, picking up poets, grabbing the best authors, hooking up with musicians, open to suggestions and the open road...

Salena Godden hosts and produces The Book Club Boutique. She is also the ring leader and singer of the resident Book Club Boutique Band. She works for The First Story Charity - a charity created by author William Fiennes - that aims to foster and nurture literacy and creativity in schools, publishing anthologies of students work in secondary schools. She is a regular guest on BBC Radio 4's 'Saturday Live' programme; writing and performing live on air on Saturday mornings. She has collaborated with Coldcut, Alabama 3, she is the lead singer of Salpeter and she been published in a myriad of magazines, newspapers and anthologies. A new collection of Godden's poetry is published by NASTY LITTLE PRESS in February 2011.

'In these days of 24 hour internet addiction, it's easy to forget the old favourites. Which is where an absolute diamond of literary salvation like this comes in - where sterling authors and spoken word artists combine with music, drinks and conversation to create a distinctly unpretentious air of actual, you know, fun. Oh, and books too. Yes, that's the point after all. Sort of.' URBAN JUNKIES WEEKEND GUIDE
