Rezidor Hotel Group Announces Two New Hotels in the UK

Rezidor Hotel Group announces two new hotels set to open in major UK cities in 2013: the Radisson Blu Hotel, Newcastle and the Park Inn Bournemouth.

2011-01-06
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, January 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, has announced two new hotels in the United Kingdom: both the Radisson Blu Hotel, Newcastle (170 rooms) and the Park Inn Bournemouth (172 rooms) will welcome the first guests in 2013.

The Radisson Blu Hotel, Newcastle will be one of the best-located hotels in town: with frontage on the central thoroughfare (Westgate Road) and adjacent to the main train station. Besides 170 rooms and suites featuring signature services such as free high speed Internet access, the property will offer a restaurant, a bar, 400 square metres of conference space and a fitness centre. Parking will also be available.

Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor, said, "Our portfolio of Radisson Blu hotels in the UK now comprises 17 properties in all major cities - including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Edinburgh. This clearly shows how important this home market is for our upper upscale brand."

Newcastle, located in Northern England on the River Tyne, is part of the sixth largest urban area in the UK. It is also one of the best performing hotel markets: in addition to corporate travellers, the city attracts strong leisure demand thanks to its active nightlife, frequent events/conferences and popular soccer team. Moreover, the market has proved resilient through the economic crisis with stable occupancy and rate levels.

The Park Inn Bournemouth will be located in the city centre, equidistant from the beach and the main train station (journey time to London by train is under two hours). Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) is also within walking distance, making the Park Inn the perfect choice for leisure and business travellers. Besides 172 comfortable and contemporary rooms, the property will have a restaurant, a bar, a gym and meeting rooms. With a highly-visible, hilltop location, upper floor guest rooms will have sea views. The hotel is an integral part of a mixed-use development which will include residential towers, office space, retail areas and extensive parking.

"Our young and dynamic mid-market brand Park Inn by Radisson will further grow in the key market UK. The hotels offer excellent value for money and hassle free stays", added Kurt Ritter.

Bournemouth is one of Southern England's largest cities and has always enjoyed a reputation as a premier conference and leisure destination, attracting over one million visitors per year. Summer business is particularly strong, as its 12 km sandy beach attracts visitors from throughout the UK.

Progeny, the Novel by R.T. Kaelin, May be the Next Big Fantasy Series Hit
2011-01-06
The early reviews for Progeny, the fantasy novel by R.T. Kaelin, are starting to roll in and they have all been extremely positive. The praise for the first book of The Children of the White Lions series is effusive. "When I picked up Progeny, I was soon swept up into a world so large, and a tale so relentless, that I could not put it down. The plot flows as strongly as a waterfall but manages to pace itself and keep the reader guessing. The disparate characters we meet along the way are intriguing and richly nuanced, reminding one of Tolkien's without being derivative. ...

The water can contain high levels of ...

Even healthy cats act sick when their routine is disrupted

2011-01-04
COLUMBUS, Ohio – A cat regularly vomiting hairballs or refusing to eat probably isn't being finicky or otherwise "cat-like," despite what conventional wisdom might say. There is a good chance that the cat is acting sick because of the stress caused by changes in its environment, new research suggests. Healthy cats were just as likely as chronically ill cats to refuse food, vomit frequently and leave waste outside their litter box in response to changes in their routine, according to the Ohio State University study. Veterinary clinicians refer to these acts as sickness ...
