ORLANDO, FL, January 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) They made their lists, we checked them twice, found none of them naughty and all of them nice. It was a bright Christmas for the children of Great Oaks Village, a residential foster care home, in Orlando, Florida, when Jackson Therapy associates arrived at their door with $5,000 worth of gifts.
Jackson Therapy's president and CEO, Scott L'Heureux, commented on the initiative, stating, "Our understanding was that donations to the Village had drastically dropped in the last year and our efforts immediately shifted to giving as many children as possible a joyful holiday. Each child wrote a letter specifying their hobbies, interests, and Christmas wish lists. Because of our associates' generosity, we were able to sponsor 19 of the Village's 42 children; as well as, provide Christmas pajamas to all 42 children at the Village and purchase a flat screen television and PlayStation 3 for one of the cottages. We're happy to help such a worthy cause and look forward to touring the campus in the New Year."
Great Oaks Village is a residential foster care group home for children ages 6 - 17 that have been removed from their homes by the State of Florida due to abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. The facility is comprised of seven 12-bed cottages and houses up to 84 residents at a time. Five cottages are used to house long-term foster and shelter care children, one cottage is used as a 23-hour assessment center for children just removed from their homes, and the other cottage is an independent living transition home for children that have aged out of foster care.
Great Oaks Village provides individual, group and sibling counseling by professional staff; educational services, including standardized test preparation, academic and vocational assessment; tutoring; and a state-of-the-art learning center. The Village also prepares youth aging out of foster care with job skills, budgeting, financing, socialization and etiquette.

A new bed guard has recently entered the child safety market called The Bed Bumper.
The job of a bed guard is to inhibit a youngster (bed clothes and comforters) from slipping down onto the floor. The guard is secured down the unguarded edge of the bed and acts as a solid rail against which a toddler can safely press.
Bed guards are bought and used at a time when a kid is stepping up from sleeping in a cot with sides to a bed/cotbed without sides. The move in beds usually happens when a toddler is around its second birthday. Typical bed rails are either made of wooden ...
