WESTMINSTER, CO, January 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) In recent years, programs geared to women only
have began to take popularity.
From fitness kickboxing classes, boot camps, and women fitness clubs -- women only
programs have taken off like a grand slam in baseball.
Starting on February 7th, 2011, local martial arts and fitness school owner and instructor,
Javier Lozano, Jr. will be teaching a series of 8 Week Women Self-Defense Courses
throughout the year.
These 8 week courses are designed to teach women the basic fundamentals of empty-hand
self-defense by using effective strikes, kicks, and blocks to fend off an attacker.
Students will learn where to properly place their strikes and kicks on an attacker to create
the most damage, as well as how to their hands and feet effectively.
In addition, women will learn basic self-defense escapes, such as escaping from a wrist
grab, a choke hold, bear hugs, and more advanced attacks, from either standing up or on
the ground.
Finally, we will take all students through self-defense training against blunt objects and
knives, as these can be very common weapons used by an attacker.
So why is our self-defense course only 8 weeks?
Here's what Chief Self-Defense Instructor, Javier Lozano, Jr. had to say about this 8 Week
Women Self-Defense Program.
"After having in-depth discussions with several female friends and colleagues I came down
to the conclusion that women, for the most part, have a different perception about self-
defense training. They would typically prefer to attend a self-defense course that has a
beginning and an end, instead of attending a 6 - 12 month self-defense training program"
says Lozano.
Most self-defense programs are designed for a longer period of intensive training because
that is how you gain and retain the best knowledge about self-defense. However, most
women have a family, and don't have much additional time to devote outside of their home,
therefore having a condensed version of a self-defense program would be the ultimate
solution.
Therefore, Broomfield Women Self-Defense created the 8 Week Women Self-Defense
Program. This is an intensive training program that uses reality-based self-defense
training geared to teach the most efficient and effective self-defense techniques that give
the best results in stopping or immobilizing an attacker.
In addition to a comprehensive knowledge and training in self-defense, all women students
will be put through a rigorous training regimen at the facility by developing their strength
and conditioning through heavy bag training.
A program of this caliber, for 8 weeks, would typically run in the upwards of $400, which
doesn't not also include training equipment.
Since this is a new program for residents in Broomfield, Westminster, and Thornton, the
Broomfield Women Self-Defense is offering a promotional special for the first two 8-week
courses.
To reserve your spot, there is a one-time $39 enrollment fee, which includes training
gloves, shin guards, and a mouth piece - all this totaling a $100 value. The 8 week course
has been discounted to $299 for 16 high intensity self-defense classes.
In addition, we are offering a 2-for-1 special that will allow students to split the cost of the
8 week course with a friend, making your self-defense training less then $10 per class.
However, Broomfield Women Self-Defense is limiting the class to 20 participants, as this
will guarantee the quality of the classes.

The Broomfield Women Self-Defense Institute is the leading self-defense program in Colorado geared to women only. Chief Instructor Javier Lozano, Jr. has been training in the martial arts for over 20 years, holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt, and is a former NASKA World Champion fighter.

Wall Street Journal: Scoring Unlisted Jobs (80% of job openings are unlisted)
2011-01-08
Job boards are irresistible because they seemingly put everything within easy reach. Unfortunately, the majority of job hunters are competing for the same small pool of jobs and getting turned down.
More than 80% of job openings are actually unlisted, says Steven Rothberg, founder of job website CollegeRecruiter.com in Minneapolis. This can be a good opportunity for outside candidates with research and networking skills since most companies will try to promote from within or rely on employee referrals.
