The GRAMMY Museum Presents "An Evening With Alan Parsons"

Legendary engineer, producer and musician Alan Parsons sits down to discuss his past work and upcoming project at the GRAMMY Museum on September 29th.

2010-09-02
LOS ANGELES, CA, September 02, 2010 (Press-News.org) On September 29th, 2010, The GRAMMY Museum will welcome one of music's great renaissance men, Alan Parsons, to the Clive Davis Theater for the Museum's celebrated "An Evening With" program.

Parsons started his career as an assistant engineer at the famed Abbey Road Studios working on projects such as The Beatles' Abbey Road and Let It Be, and quickly became one of the most sought-after names in the recording industry for his engineering work on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. After earning accolades for his work behind the glass, Parsons, also a talented musician, formed The Alan Parsons Project, a progressive rock band featuring Parsons, his collaborator Eric Woolfson and a rotating cast of studio musicians.

Parsons' latest venture is a series of instructional DVD's titled The Art and Science of Sound Recording (www.artandscienceofsound.com), which features ten hours of original video material that teaches viewers about music production - from the intricacies of studio acoustics to the history and progress of artificial reverb technology. In cooperation with the DVD series, Parsons also released a new single, All Our Yesterdays, featuring some of Los Angeles' finest musicians and a rare vocal performance by Parsons.

Before an intimate audience of 200, hear Alan Parsons in conversation about his career as an engineer, producer and musician and as well hear him discuss his new single and DVD series. After the interview, the Parsons will take questions from the audience and perform a few of their greatest hits and newest songs.

The GRAMMY Museum launched its flagship public program, "An Evening With...," in January 2009 with music legend Brian Wilson and continued its success with critically-acclaimed recording artists Ringo Starr, Annie Lennox, Tom Morello, Dwight Yoakam, Dionne Warwick, Smokey Robinson, Terence Blanchard, Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, George Benson, Paul Shaffer, Carly Simon, Chris Hillman, John Mellencamp, Harry Connick, Jr. and Clive Davis. The program regularly features award-winning and cutting-edge musicians live and onstage. Taking place in the Museum's state-of-the-art theatre, which screens the film "The Making of a GRAMMY Moment" during regular Museum hours, the program provides guests unprecedented access to their favorite musicians.

"An Evening With Alan Parsons" will take place at 8pm in the Clive Davis Theater, on the second floor of The GRAMMY Museum. Doors open at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20, go on sale August 26th at 12pm, and can be purchased in-person at the Museum Box Office, through Ticketmaster.com, or by calling 1.800.745.3000.
