CARY, NC, September 02, 2010 (Press-News.org) Cary Family Dental is proud to announce that they have been ranked in the Top 5 Percent of national Smiles for Life fundraising participants. Dr. Allan Acton and his team ranked #17 out of 400 Crown Council dental practices throughout North America that have participated in the annual Smiles for Life campaign.
During the four-month Smiles for Life campaign, Crown Council members offer teeth whitening services at a significantly reduced price. Through a unique partnership with legendary entertainer Garth Brooks and his Teammates For Kids Foundation, Smiles for Life guarantees that half of the money raised by Crown Council members goes to children's charities in communities across North America. The remaining half goes to the charity chosen by the dental practice. For the second year in a row, Cary Family Dental Family Dental selected Interact, the only confidential domestic violence prevention program serving Wake County's twelve municipalities.
"I'm proud of our partnership with Crown Council and the money and awareness that we've been able to raise through our efforts for the Smiles for Life Campaign," says Dr. Acton. "Last year, my [Cary Family Dental] colleagues dared me to shave my head if we raised $20,000 for this wonderful cause. We met our goal, I went bald for fall, and I couldn't have been a happier man for it! We look forward to continuing to challenge ourselves in order to keep raising money for this amazing association and cause."
Greg Anderson is the director of the Crown Council and president of the Smiles for Life Foundation. The Smiles for Life campaign is now in its 13th year and has raised over $27 million to help over 500 children's charities around the world. He says that the efforts of Cary Family Dental show just how much of a positive effect a single dental practice can have on so many families.
"Dr. Acton and his team represent unparalleled enthusiasm for Smiles for Life, having raised over $65,000 over the past five years to benefit both the Triangle Down Syndrome Network and Interact in the Cary community," says Anderson. "Together, with our partners at the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, we are grateful (along with children everywhere) for the commitment of Dr. Acton and his team for what they do to help those who are unable to help themselves. We hope the community will continue to support them in their efforts."
The Smiles for Life Foundation is the children's charity organization of the Crown Council, an organization of leading-edge dentists throughout North America. To learn more, visit http://www.smilesforlife.org.
