SANTA MONICA, CA, January 12, 2011 (Press-News.org) Goodreads has launched a unique book discovery tool—the New Releases mailer. Available to any member of Goodreads and sent monthly, the New Releases mailer shows readers new books from authors they love as well as the top five books of the month in twelve genres. Unlike other book lists that focus only on what's selling (Amazon and The New York Times best-seller lists), Goodreads is able to recommend books based on what our members have actually read and tailor these recommendations to their reading preferences. Goodreads is dedicated to the mission of helping readers find good books. This new product ensures that no reader will ever miss a favorite author's newest release.
Goodreads members who opt in to the New Releases mailer will see new books by authors on their shelves. For example, readers who shelved The Memory Keeper's Daughter (2005) will learn that Kim Edwards has a new book, The Lake of Dreams (available January 4, 2011), the novelist's first book in five years. Similarly, the new releases mailer will alert fans that the next book in their favorite series is now available, such as Awakened, the highly anticipated eighth book in the popular House of Night series (available January 4, 2011).
Additionally, readers can opt to receive the month's top titles in 12 genres: Fiction, Nonfiction, Young Adult, Children's, History & Biography, Memoir & Autobiography, Mystery & Thriller, Romance, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, and Graphic Novels & Comics. This "New Releases by Genre" section includes exciting book releases, such as Kurt Vonnegut's While Mortals Sleep, a collection of previously unpublished stories (available January 25, 2011), and uncovers books of interest within the reader's favorite genres, such as nonfiction release The Science of Kissing: What Our Lips Are Telling Us (available January 5, 2011) or historical fiction release Clara and Mr. Tiffany (available January 11, 2011).
