Mid-Week Savings Give Ellicottville Ski Slopes Extra Appeal

~Reduced Weekday Rates, Wide Variety of Trails and No-Wait Lift Lines Put Holiday Valley and HoliMont High on the List of Popular Ski Destinations~

2011-01-14
ELLICOTTVILLE, NY, January 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) If you haven't experienced the ski slopes of Ellicottville, now's the time to do it. Throughout the month of January, great deals are available at both Holiday Valley and HoliMont Ski Resorts, offering affordable exercise, fun and entertainment for skiers and boarders of all ages, just minutes south of Buffalo NY.

"Nowhere else will you find 110 challenging trails within a three-mile radius, anchored by one of the most picturesque ski villages in North America," says Brian McFadden, Executive Director of the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, noting that Holiday Valley was recently named "most visited" ski resort in New York state and "fifth most visited" east of the Rocky Mountains. "The best part about our weekday specials is that the crowds are gone; you can literally ski until you drop," he says.

Throughout Monday to Friday, Holiday Valley Ski Resort offers flex-time ticketing and discounted four-hour lift tickets while HoliMont - North America's largest private ski resort - is open to non-members and offers discounted half-day passes for the afternoon only. Full-day adult passes at HoliMont are $47, representing a $10 savings; eight-hour passes at Holiday Valley are $48, representing a $9 savings.

"If you do come down and take in a mid-week package, you can ski at one resort one day, the other the next," says McFadden. "And in between you can shop in our historic ski village or enjoy live entertainment and great dining at one of our local bars or restaurants where there's something happening every night of the week."

With the Canadian dollar hovering at or above parity with its U.S. counterpart, Ellicottville is also catching the attention of visitors from north of the border, he adds. "Whether they make a day of it or decide to stay overnight, there's no question Canadian skiers are receiving tremendous value for their dollar right here."

Throughout the month of January, Holiday Valley Ski Resort (www.holidayvalley.com) is offering mid-week savings on lodge and lift packages based on double adult occupancy. Packages include a one-night stay and one full day of skiing with prices starting at $143.50 for Inn at Holiday Valley, $152.50 for Tamarack Club and $137.63 for Holiday Valley Rental Properties.

Both ski resorts have also partnered with local businesses to provide extra incentives. Located in the heart of Ellicottville, Wingate by Wyndham (716-699-6000) is offering discounted mid-week packages at HoliMont. For just $99 per person based on double occupancy, you receive one night accommodation and free continental breakfast at the Wingate with one day of skiing at HoliMont. For $119 you receive the added bonus of dinner at a local restaurant of your choice.

Also right in the village is The Jefferson Inn (1-800-577-8451), which is offering weekday lift tickets to HoliMont or Holiday Valley plus one night deluxe accommodation for $109 per person, including full gourmet breakfast and packed picnic lunch.

Just on the outskirts of the village, the Black Dog Lodge bed and breakfast (716-699-6100) has a mid-week special of $625 for two that includes a three-night, two-day stay, four lift tickets and two boxed lunches.
