MUNICH, GERMANY, January 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) One of US alternative music's biggest emerging stars is due to perform in Munich next month.
Twin Shadow - the stage name used by Brooklyn-based songwriter George Lewis Jr - will appear at the Bavarian city's Feierwerk venue on Friday February 11th.
Lewis is currently riding high on the back of critical praise for his debut album Forget, which was released on the influential 4AD record label in November last year.
Produced by Chris Taylor of acclaimed Brooklyn band Grizzly Bear, the LP was described as "almost perfect" by NME, which awarded it an eight out of ten score.
Meanwhile, music website Pitchfork noted the record's use of 1980s new wave influences, as well as praising its catchy melodies and "impressive sonic sheen".
Reviewer Liz Colville commented: "The album's skilful restraint makes it sound better with every spin."
Lewis himself has described the tracks on Forget as "bedroom music", although this does not mean there was little effort involved in the creation of his debut release.
"It's not like a slapdash home video; it's someone operating with very little at 100 per cent of their ability," he explained.
Fans hoping to hear songs from Forget played live can book Munich hotels and buy a Twin Shadow gig ticket for EUR13.90 (GBP11.60).
Doors will open at 19:30 local time and the show is due to begin at 20:00.
According to the 4AD website, the musician has drawn inspiration from trips to several European locations, including Berlin and Copenhagen.
His Munich show will be the last of four dates in Germany next month, with gigs also scheduled for Hamburg, Cologne and the capital city.
