Flatonia's Art Fest and Market Days Announces its 2011 Call for Artists

Flatonia, TX Chamber of Commerce's first annual art fest needs artists and artisans from across Texas to participate.

2011-01-15
FLATONIA, TX, January 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Flatonia Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the launch of the Chamber's first annual Art Fest, which will be held in the spring of 2011. The Chamber invites artists and artisans from all over Texas and the surrounding States to participate and display their talent in the community.

Art Fest is set to occur on March 5, 2011, in conjunction with Flatonia's quarterly Market Days activities. Also on the same day, Flatonia will serve a hand-off city for the Texas Independence Relay Runner's Race, an annual event that attracts large numbers of participants and their support groups.

"This is an opportunity for artisans of all types to display their talent in our community," says Chamber President, Victoria Duncan. "We anticipate an exciting, fun-filled day that will be highlighted with artwork on display."

All types of artists are being invited to Art Fest, and work will fall into one of two categories: fine art or artisan crafts. Fine art exhibits will be distinguished from artisan crafts by location set-up. Exclusive spaces in the downtown area have been selected for fine art displays, and the artisan crafts will have a designated section within the Market Days vendor booth area. This entire area is on Main Street in Flatonia.

In order to ensure the success of the first annual Art Fest of Flatonia, there will be an aggressive advertising campaign beginning in January to reach artists and visitors in the San Antonio, Austin and Houston areas, as well as the bordering counties of Flatonia. We urge the community to support the Art Fest by attending the Market Day event or by entering their own artwork.

The Art Fest committee urges artists to enter as soon as possible by completing and returning the application form available on the Flatonia Chamber website, http://www.flatoniachamber.com. More information is available by contacting the Flatonia Chamber at 361-865-3920 or by email at flatoniachamber@sbcglobal.net.
