East Hill Cabinetry Owner Anthony Maucieri Remains Proactive Despite Current Economy

Small Business Owner Continues to Hone Business Building Knowledge Through Westchester County Business and Entrepreneurial Programs

2010-09-03
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY, September 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) Despite the conservative response by many corporations and small business owners to Westchester County's current economic climate, numerous businesspeople are using the recession as an opportunity to continue developing their company. Local organizations and institutes such as The Westchester County Office of Economic Development, The Business Council of Westchester, and Westchester Community College (WCC) have aimed to continue to build Westchester's small businesses through various programs, networking opportunities, and career building and business development classes.

Anthony Maucieri, President and Founder of Briarcliff-based East Hill Cabinetry, responded to these economic times by building his knowledge as an entrepreneur, small business owner, and Westchester County resident. The recent valedictorian of WCC's 15-week "The Academy for Entrepreneurial Excellence" recently spoke to a room full of Westchester businesspeople regarding the importance of continuing education for entrepreneurs.

"There is a sense of honor and pride that comes with being the owner of a small business in Westchester County, though at times it can feel very limiting," said Mr. Maucieri. "This course brought together eight people, all with very different businesses, but of a like mind. With counseling from area business leaders, we reinforced our understanding that no matter the size of a company, the same values and principles apply. The program also encourages and develops entrepreneurial visions, while staying focused on teaching each individual how to run their own company."

"Anthony is really an excellent corporate citizen," said Harry Horowitz, Director of The Academy, "Over the years I' ve seen standouts from within our classes and Anthony fits the mold. We expect to see great things from him in the future."

Mr. Maucieri started East Hill Cabinetry in 2007 at 23 years old. He single-handedly found the space, vendors, completed the build out, wrote the b-plan, and acquired financing for his company. Now, at the age of 26, the Cabinetry expert has grown revenues 2,600% from the first year -- through the recession.

"I learned a lot about our community here in Westchester and the charity of its business people," added Mr. Maucieri. "Presenters and program directors donated their time and knowledge to teach young businesspeople, enabling us to succeed and our businesses to flourish."

Investing in continuing education programs is among the actions being taken by Westchester professionals such as Mr. Maucieri. Anthony was recently recognized for his participation with The Westchester-Putnam Workforce Investment Board's local One-Stop program, which offers free services to assist job seekers and connect them with businesses looking for employees with specific skills.

"One-Stop is a terrific resource for business owners, and a significant program during these economic times," said Mr. Maucieri. "It is increasingly important to support programs which help grow Westchester County. One-Stop helps connect the supply and demand for qualified workers in the community."
