EUGENE, OR, January 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Ulum Group, a Eugene-headquartered public relations/public affairs firm, will change its name to Vox Public Relations Public Affairs, effective Jan. 1, 2011.
"Vox is the Latin word for voice," said Patrick Walsh, president/CEO of Vox Public Relations Public Affairs. "As we considered a new name, it became clear that what we do is give voice to our clients' messages through properly prescribed communications channels in order for them to directly connect with their key audiences."
Vox Public Relations Public Affairs has nine professional staff members. The firm maintains offices at 941 Oak St. in Eugene and in the Pearl District in Portland, Ore. The website URL will change on Jan. 1, 2011, to http://www.voxprpa.com. Office addresses and phone numbers will remain the same.
The firm provides strategic communications counsel, as well as integrated public relations public affairs program planning, implementation and evaluation — including research, social media and traditional media relations, crisis communications, lobbying and advocacy, community relations, public involvement, employee relations, association management, collateral material development/writing and special event management.
"We have worked with many excellent clients, some of whom have been with us for a decade or longer," Walsh said. "Our team is second to none in terms of skill set and work ethic. We do an outstanding job serving a diverse client base — which over the years has included everyone from NASCAR to the Oregon Country Fair — as well as representing the interests of many Oregon organizations at the state Legislature in Salem, with the media, and with local community groups and governments across the state and throughout the region."
The Ulum Group was founded in 1995 by Jenny Ulum, the advertising firm Cappelli Miles Wiltz Kelly (Cappelli Miles [spring]), and the marketing communications firm Funk and Associates (Funk/Levis & Associates). Walsh, the second employee hired, has been with the firm since 1996. A minority owner for several years, he and his wife Beth bought Ulum's interest in 2008 and recently bought out the last minority owner.
"Over the last 15 years, Jenny and The Ulum Group team established a high standard for quality and excellence in our work," Walsh said. "We may be Vox Public Relations Public Affairs, but our commitment to those founding principles has not changed."
