Myers Jr. for his award of The Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service for 2011 for the 12th Judicial Circuit. This honor recognizes Mr. Myers' outstanding donation of his time and professional expertise representing people who cannot afford legal services. This award is presented annually to one attorney in each of Florida's 20 judicial circuits, which includes more than 90,000 members of The Florida Bar.
"We are very proud that a member of our firm has received this distinguished award," said Bob Lyons, president of Icard Merrill. "We commend Troy for his dedication and enthusiasm in providing outstanding legal services to those in our community who are in need. As a firm, it has always been our policy to encourage pro bono work and all manner of volunteerism."
In a letter of congratulations, The Florida Bar recognized Mr. Myers as an example of the legal profession at its best.
Mr. Myers will be honored at a ceremony at the Supreme Court Building in Tallahassee, hosted by The Florida Bar and the Justices of the Florida Supreme Court.
A member of Icard Merrill since 1979, Myers has built a practice that concentrates on matters relating to immigration law, federal and state income and estate tax, business law, offshore organizations, foreign and domestic asset protection, and estate planning. In 2000, Myers became the head of the firm's immigration department, is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and frequently participates in immigration seminars. He graduated from law school at Samford University, earned a Masters of Laws degree in taxation from the University of Florida, and served as a captain in the United States Air Force.
