BILBAO, SPAIN, January 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) Hotel Bilbao guests have an opportunity to take in some authentic Basque culture when Las Txirenitas is performed in the city in February.
The show will feature six of the greatest actresses currently working in Bilbao in the shape of Sol Maguna, Gemma Martinez, Yolanda Martinez, Maribel Salas, Vito Rogado and the irrepressible Loli Astoreka.
For an indication of what the production will entail, tourists need only know what the title means in the Basque country.
The organisers explained that the word 'txirene' is a term used to describe something or someone that is peculiar or absurd to the point of being comical.
In Las Txirenitas, the stars of the show will discuss a wealth of topics such as dancing and music - with the performance wandering into the realms of the bizarre at several points.
"The 'txirenitas' emerge from the River Nervion, turning the theatre into a TV studio in which the audience is present at the recording of the channel's leading programme: 'Life and Things' (La vida y sus cosas)," explained the team behind the production.
It will be staged at the Sala BBK on Gran Via from February 3rd to 6th 2011, with tickets costing between EUR14 (GBP11.70) and EUR18.
The action kicks off at 20:00 local time every day, except on the final date when it begins at 19:00.
Las Txirenitas forms part of a Teatro de Proximidad 2011 festival organised by the Teatro Arriaga, which combines music, dance, theatre and operettas.
For more information on this event, visit the Teatro Arriaga website or contact the organisers on +34 944 310 310.
