PEARLAND, TX, August 13, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Liberty Mutual Invitational Golf Tournament, being held October 18, 2010 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, TX, will benefit Forgotten Angels, a Pearland-based non-profit that provides care and support to adults with developmental and physical disabilities.

The 18-hole amateur charity golf tournament is being hosted by E-Z Line Pipe Support, LLC. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to build Forgotten Angel's 16th home which is reserved for several young ladies with extensive physical disabilities. "The Sharondale Residence" has been designed to improve mobility, accessibility and living quality.

"The 2010 tournament will be the eighth tournament for Forgotten Angels, and our first with a national sponsor," said Debby Palmer of E-Z Line Pipe Support, the Tournament Chair & Sponsor/Player Coordinator. "We're thankful to Liberty Mutual for their support and the spotlight it puts on Forgotten Angels. We're looking forward to a great tournament."

Local amateur golfers of all skill levels are invited to compete in this nationwide scramble series in one of two levels of participation, Palmer explained.

Level 1 requires a USGA Handicap Index total of 43.0 or more to compete for 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes. Handicaps will be verified. Team members may have USGA Handicap Indexes higher than 8.0, but only one member of a team may have a USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less.

The top winning team members on Level 1 will receive TaylorMade Golf Gift Cards as well as the opportunity to compete against other tournament winners from across the country in the National Finals at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, March 10-14, 2011. Other top winning teams will win prizes from; Liberty Mutual, TaylorMade, Adidas, Polaroid, Sports Vision Eyewear, Pinehurst Resort, and Golf Digest.

Level 2 teams do not need USGA Handicap Indexes and are not eligible for USGA Handicap prizes, available to Level 1 teams. Team members are eligible for all other prizes and gifts, including a Liberty Mutual Invitation gift bag and a free pair of golf shoes.

Golfers interested in playing in the Liberty Mutual Invitation tournament who have formed their own teams, as well as individuals who wish to be placed on a team, should contact Holly McDonald, 281.412.643 ext. 136 or 281.684.0688 or send an email to development@forgottenangels.org. Teams can register up to the date of play, but early registration is advised and teams are limited. The rain date is November 1, 2010.

Forgotten Angels is selling tickets for a custom designed "Lone Star" golf cart, sponsored by E-Z Line Pipe Support LLC and Treadwell Electric. The "Lone Star" golf cart has custom red, white and blue. paint, 2-passenger suite seats, headlight bar, tail lights, 10-inch low profile tires and wheels. Tickets ($20 each) can be purchased at from volunteers and at Forgotten Angels. The winner does not need to be present to win.

Background: Liberty Mutual Invitational Golf Tournament is a local amateur charity golf tournament series featuring 73 events across the U.S. in 2010 that are expected to raise in excess of $5 million to support national and local charities. Participating teams must consist of four amateur players whose combined USGA Handicap Index totals 43.0 strokes or more. Only one member of a team may have a USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. Liberty Mutual entered into a three-year agreement in 2009 with Fortune Marketing Unlimited, Inc., the creator and manager of the amateur tournament series since 1988, to help manage the Liberty Mutual Invitational program on its behalf. The tournament series was formerly known as the Cadillac Invitational, a sponsorship that Cadillac, a division of General Motors, ended in 2009 after 19 years. Liberty Mutual is also the title sponsor of the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, a 31-year relationship the company has had with this official event on the PGA Tour's Champions Tour. The 2010 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, played April 23rd - 25th, in Savannah, Georgia, was won by the team of Mark O'Meara and Nick Price.

Background: Forgotten Angels is a local non-profit that provides exceptional care and support to adults and children with special needs including mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and other developmental and physical disabilities. This is the 8th golf tournament by Forgotten Angels, and the first with a national sponsor. Funds raised will be used to build the 16th group home, also known as The Sharondale Residence, in the Pearland area.
