From Books to BOTOX, Palm Desert Cosmetic Dermatologist Does It All
2011-01-22
INDIAN WELLS, CA, January 22, 2011 (Press-News.org) Dr. Richard Foxx, founder and director of The Medical and Skin Spa (www.medicalandskinspa.com), recently published his first novel, Spirit Ranch. Known for his aesthetic touch and attention to detail when administering BOTOX near Palm Desert, Dr. Foxx's literary endeavor provides another channel in which he demonstrates his artistic talents.

"Writing Spirit Ranch was an exciting and stimulating project that allowed me another opportunity to be creative," Dr. Foxx said. "I have always believed that practicing medicine is an art, especially when you are performing facial procedures like BOTOX or laser dermatology in Southern California. Part of the reason I chose to write a novel was to challenge myself as an artist; it makes me a better doctor."

Spirit Ranch is set in the desert east of Palm Springs and tells the story of a former cowboy who moves to a ranch in search of tranquility and finds himself haunted by the ghost of a woman murdered in the 1930s. The compelling story is a combination of mystery, thriller, and romance that results in a thoroughly engaging and gripping tale.

"It's part ghost story, part drama, and part love story," Dr. Foxx explains. "I was inspired by the mysteriousness of the desert."

Adding "author" to his repertoire of professional titles comes as no surprise - Dr. Foxx is also the editor of an internationally distributed monthly newsletter called The Healing Doctor and is a contributing writer and member of the peer review panel for Advance for Healthy Aging. He has written on a variety of medical and non-medical topics and is also a sought-after lecturer and recognized authority on medical spas. Dr. Foxx opened his medical spa in 2003 and has received numerous accolades, such as being featured in 100 Best Spas of the World and receiving the 2009 Silver Sage Readers' Choice Award from SPA Magazine for" Favorite Medical/Wellness Spa."

"We are a very busy office," Dr. Foxx says, "so finding the time to sit down and write a novel was difficult. But when you're inspired, the words come almost effortlessly and everything falls into place. At times it's almost as though someone else is moving your hand."

This graceful touch is what has given Dr. Foxx a reputation throughout Southern California as one of the best non-invasive aesthetic and laser medicine practitioners in the area. He is widely acclaimed for his results using dermal fillers such as BOTOX, Restylane, JUVEDERM, and RADIESSE, and is known for his experience operating laser skin devices such as TITAN and Fraxel . He also serves on the Medical Education Faculty for RADIESSE and trains physicians for IAPAM on the use of BOTOX.

Dr. Foxx is already working on his next book to be titled Look Better Than You Ever Thought Possible ... Without Surgery. "It's definitely a different book than Spirit Ranch," Dr. Foxx adds. "But I really felt the need to let people know that surgery is not the only option for looking young. There are a number of non-surgical procedures that produce similar or even better results without invasive techniques, and I feel compelled to share that with people."

Richard M. Foxx, M.D. (www.medicalandskinspa.com) is a Southern California dermatologist who has been specializing in cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic medicine since 2001. He has been recognized for his skill with BOTOX Cosmetic, injectable fillers, and lasers. Dr. Foxx serves as a clinical instructor for other physicians, teaching them techniques for facial rejuvenation. His practice, the Medical and Skin Spa, is located in the lovely Hyatt Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells, CA.
