BACKGROUND
We all are aware that climate change is a critical threat to our planet. But all the campaigns, groups, and web sites that deal with climate change, intentionally or unintentionally, target staunch environmentalists and activists. Two reasons for this are that the tasks they recommend people do are time-consuming and difficult, or they provide easy green habits, but they are fogged by the complex ones that take too much time for lazy environmentalists to decipher all the information and sort out the tasks they are willing to do. Thus, Lazy Green was created as the first product tailored toward lazy environmentalists. It is helpful, easy, and fun; at the same time, they learn and change their energy-saving habits.

FEATURES
In the game, the player can choose to raise one of five animals threatened by climate change polar bear, penguin, lion, hummingbird, and sea turtle. Each animal has different raising days and different stages in its raising period. In order to raise the animal, the player has to gain carbon points by doing any one of the sixteen easy energy-saving tasks recommended in the game. The player has to do these tasks in real life and confirm it in the game so that he/she can gain carbon points. With these carbon points, the player has to feed the animal and block the effects of climate change throughout the game. When the animal is young, the player is required to pet the animal and purchase a toy to play with. In the adult stage, the player has to purchase and take care of the whole family. As the raising day progresses, the player is required to earn more carbon points to raise the animals, making the game more difficult. When the player decides to purchase an energy-saving product, the game provides a link to purchase it through the Lazy Green homepage. The game also can track the player's carbon points record to see his/her progress. The purpose of the game is to assist lazy environmentalists to slowly change their energy-saving habits, therefore helping them to reduce their carbon footprint.

Lazy Green was developed by James Kyungmo Yang as a thesis project while he was in the MFA Design program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He is a social-minded graphic designer based in New York and has won numerous design awards at the Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, AIGA, How Magazine, I.D. Magazine, Adobe Design Achievement Awards, and Graphis. For further information, please contact us at support@lazygreengame.com
