LateRooms.com - See The Joy Formidable Live in Munich

The Joy Formidable are heading to a stage in Munich from north Wales via London.

2011-01-26
MUNICH, GERMANY, January 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) Hotly-tipped indie rockers The Joy Formidable are preparing to show music fans in Germany what all the fuss is about next month.

After several years of low-key single releases and well-received gigs, the London-based trio will release their debut album The Big Roar through Atlantic Records on January 24th.

They are set to embark on a series of performances around Europe to support the LP, with Munich's Atomic Cafe due to welcome the band on February 27th.

Formed in north Wales by vocalist/guitarist Ritzy Bryan and bassist Rhydian Dafydd, The Joy Formidable have been compared to US alternative rock bands such as The Breeders and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The band were tipped for stardom by the Guardian back in 2008, with the newspaper describing their music as a "darkly joyous soft-loud racket" with echoes of Sonic Youth and Arcade Fire.

Ritzy and Rhydian have plenty of experience of being on the underground radar, as their previous band Sidecar Kisses was selected as one to watch by NME.

However, the impetus provided by their debut album release could make 2011 a breakthrough year for The Joy Formidable.

In its review, music website The Quietus said the record is "executed with such aplomb, such energy and emotion, it's almost impossible not to love".

People who plan to catch their performance during a stay in Munich hotels can purchase tickets for EUR15 (GBP12.70).

Doors will open at 20:00 local time and the venue offers a cocktail happy hour until 21:00.

For more information on this event, visit the Atomic Cafe website.
