2011-01-26
SAN ANTONIO, TX, January 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) is now accepting entries for the fourth annual Robert Bruss Real Estate Book Awards Competition.

Authors of books published in 2010 in the broad field of real estate -- including finance, mortgage lending, foreclosures, investing, green building and sustainable design, as well as home buying and selling and commercial real estate -- are invited to enter this prestigious contest.

Deadline to enter NAREE's Bruss Book Awards Competition is Feb. 15, 2011. NAREE's book awards are named for the late Bob Bruss, syndicated real estate columnist, prolific writer and NAREE leader. Bruss frequently wrote reviews of realty books.

NAREE, a non-profit association founded in 1929, will name gold, silver and bronze award-winners. In addition, NAREE will give a special award to a first-time author. The awards, with $2,000 in cash prizes, will be presented at the NAREE Real Estate Journalism Conference in San Antonio Texas in June.

The Bruss Awards presentation will be a highlight of the 45th Annual NAREE Spring conference, June 15-18, 2011, headquartered at the historic Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio.

Entrants should submit three copies of their book and a 5,000-word excerpt (many authors pick a key chapter or two).

The Bruss Call for Entries brochure, available on a PDF format, and the entry form can be obtained on http://www.NAREE.org. The NAREE website also lists winners of last year's competition.

Founded in 1929, NAREE has more than 650 members nationwide. The association meets in different US cities three times per year.

In Winter, NAREE members gather for a networking reception and hospitality suite during the National Association of Home Builders "International Builders Show."

In the Spring, NAREE members meet for the association's annual real estate journalism conference which includes "NAREE's Meet the Press," a one-on-one opportunity for freelance writers, columnists, and publicists to visit with up to a dozen of the nation's leading real estate journalists gathered under one roof for this mini press tour. NAREE conference planners put together morning panels of newsmakers and trend setters to discuss issues of the day and to answer reporter questions on breaking stories. Professional development sessions and/or area tours are scheduled for the afternoons. The association also presents awards to the winners of the annual journalism competition, the Bruss Book Competition and annual NAREE Bivins Fellowship fellows during the spring conference Awards Luncheon.

In the fall, members gather for Fall Summit and Installation of Officers and Awards Dinner. The President's Award for Outstanding Service is presented. The Fall Summit is held as members gather at an industry conference such as the National Association of Realtors Convention or the Urban Land Institute Fall Meeting. NAREE strives to maintain a presence at other industry meetings as volunteer time and member interest dictate.
