Course-Source outlines a new way of buying e-learning

At this year's Learning and Skills exhibition - allied to the Learning Technologies conference and exhibition - in London, Course-Source is explaining its unconventional but extremely cost effective approach to providing e-learning materials.

2011-01-26
ST ALBANS, ENGLAND, January 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) At this year's Learning and Skills exhibition - allied to the Learning Technologies conference and exhibition - in London, Course-Source is explaining its unconventional but extremely cost effective approach to providing e-learning materials.

Course-Source - the power behind delivery of the award-winning, 300,000 user NHS Connecting for Health ECDL e-learning programme - guarantees its customers no initial set-up costs in terms of IT hardware; no software or maintenance overheads and no costs for installing additional servers on the customers' company intranets.

Ken Wood, the founder and director of Course-Source Ltd, explained: "Traditionally, e-learning operates like this: you decide which course titles you want to buy and the price is based on how many users in your organisation can access the materials whether they are needed or not.

"Our approach is different and involves a flexible, enrolment based pricing. That way, learners can access entire training libraries and it doesn't matter if one person does 30 courses while 20 others only do one.

"Our customers save money, cut waste and get better returns on their investment by allowing interested users to do more," he said.

In addition to offering enrolment-based course pricing, Course-Source's approach allows clients to deliver learning content via their own in-house learning management system (LMS) without having to store all the content files on their servers. Alternatively, they can opt for the Course-Source LMS which will do the same thing as a fully managed service.

Course-Source customers include several NHS Trusts, the International Organization of Migration (IOM), Trinity Mirror Group and Ranstad, all of which use enrolment-based pricing - to deliver cost effective e-learning to their staff.

"Time and money are precious, so why waste them?" Wood commented. "You won't waste either of these precious commodities when working with Course-Source - so we'd like to invite all visitors to this year's Learning and Skills to invest some of their time there by visiting our stand, number 175, and ask us how we can save them money on their e-learning purchases."

Course-Source also provides bespoke e-learning development on the basis that clients always own the content produced and get the source files, so they can make their own changes in future. In addition, it supplies authoring tools and training to help clients create their own e-learning, and works collaboratively with them.

Learning and Skills 2011, which runs alongside the Learning Technologies event, is specifically designed to help visitors succeed in the complex new world of learning and development. It aims to deliver the tools and methodologies they need to ensure their staff and learners will flourish in today's demanding business environment.

Now in its 12th year, Learning Technologies - taking place at Olympia, London, on 26th and 27th January - has become Europe's leading showcase of organisational learning and the technology used to support learning at work, attracting an audience of 4,000 or so learning and development professionals.
