Rigid Global Buildings Now Offers 30 Energy Star Rated Colors

Rigid's pre-painted steel building roofing panels help lower roof temperatures and save energy.

2011-01-27
HOUSTON, TX, January 27, 2011 (Press-News.org) Rigid Global Buildings, the leading steel buildings manufacturer in the US, is pleased to announce it now has 30 Energy Star approved colors for pre-painted metal roofs and wall panels. Rigid's myriad of Energy Star approved color offerings range from Light Stone to Brandy Wine.

Energy Star cool roof coatings are designed to reduce energy usage, reduce energy bills, and protect the environment. Energy Star qualified roof products for steel buildings reflect more of the sun's rays. This can lower roof surface temperature by up to 10 degrees F thereby decreasing the amount of heat transferred into a building and saving significant air conditioning dollars.

In order for a color to be Energy Star approved, it must have a Solar Reflectance (SR) greater than 0.65 for Low Slope (a slope of 2:12 inches or less) and greater than 0.25 for Steep Slope (a slope greater than 2:12 inches) roofs. Pre-painted metal products have been shown to retain most, if not all, of their solar reflectance properties after three years or more of outdoor exposure.

In today's "Green" economy, Rigid is doing what it can to assist its builders and customers to offer the highest quality steel buildings products, designed to help reduce energy costs and to have a lesser impact in the environment. In addition to the Energy Star rated colors, Rigid also offers a full line of insulated panels to help accommodate projects that require higher insulation R-Values.
