LateRooms.com - Hot New Band Yuck Set for Norfolk Show

Emerging indie act Yuck are due to perform at the Norwich Arts Centre on February 26th.

2011-02-01
NORFOLK, ENGLAND, February 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) The chance to see hotly-tipped indie band Yuck in an intimate venue could attract music fans to Norfolk hotels next month.

Formed by Londoners Max Bloom and Danny Blumberg following the break-up of their previous group Cajun Dance Party, the quintet look set to become one of 2011's major success stories.

They were one of the acts featured in the influential BBC Sound of 2011 longlist and have created a major buzz on music blogs with recent single releases.

Radio DJs such as Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe have also been quick to champion Yuck, who boast a multinational line-up thanks to American drummer Jonny Rogoff and Japanese bassist Mariko Doi.

Norfolk visitors can see the band perform at the Norwich Arts Centre on Saturday February 26th, with tickets priced at just GBP6 in advance and GBP8 on the door.

Having drawn comparisons with the likes of Dinosaur Jr, Teenage Fanclub and Sonic Youth, their music is likely to appeal to fans of alternative guitar music from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

In a review of a gig from October last year, the Guardian's Alexis Petridis described Yuck's songs as "largely fantastic".

He added: "Guitars howl through wah-pedals, vocals float lethargically over the top."

People seeking a place to relax after the show can access a choice of hotels through LateRooms.com, such as the George Hotel Norfolk.

For more information on this event, visit the Norwich Arts Centre website or contact the venue on 01603 660352.
