BRATTLEBORO, VT, February 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) A Vermont entrepreneur with 30 years experience in plaster repair has released a specially formulated patching compound to help homeowners and contractors repair their old plaster walls and ceilings.
Rory Brennan, the founder of Big Wally's Plaster Magic repair adhesive, developed the compound after years of frustration with the lack of products on the market designed specifically for patching old plaster.
"Without giving away the secret recipe," Brennan explained that the compound is "a blend of lime plaster and gypsum." The lime assures compatibility with old plaster, while the gypsum helps the compound set quickly. Under typical conditions, it will set in less than two hours.
"My Big Wally's customers kept asking for a patching plaster. I knew it had to be convenient, simple to use, and work seamlessly with the Big Wally's Plaster Magic adhesive system," said Brennan.
The compound is currently only available online through http://www.plastermagic.com, although Brennan would like to see the product on retail store shelves in the coming months.

ABOUT RORY BRENNAN
Brennan has been repairing plaster for thirty years. He first learned his passion for the art of preservation at a class at Canterbury Shaker Village, NH, with a nationally-known architectural conservator. Six months later he was asked to help teach the next workshop. Since then, he has been hired to work on many significant historical buildings. Brennan majored in chemistry at Keene State College, which allowed him to hone in on the processes involved in plaster repair and develop a unique adhesive specifically for plaster repair. He routinely gives workshops, talks, lectures, and demonstrations to historic groups and government agencies across the country.
ABOUT BIG WALLY'S PATCHING PLASTER
Brennan has been developing the patching compound through trial and error over several years. Searching for a mixture of lime and gypsum that set quickly, Brennan blended a precise amount of materials to keep the mixture "soft" enough to be compatible with the old plaster. Available exclusively on http://www.plastermagic.com, the compound is available in three sizes (square inches based on a ½" thick coat):
1. Homeowners Box: up to 65 square inches
2. Painters Box: up to 250 square inches
3. Contractors Box: up to 500 square inches
