BETHESDA, MD, February 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) Dogtopia, a national upscale dog day care business, exercised its philanthropic outreach throughout all of 2010, bringing in a record amount of charity donations on a local and national level.
In the past year, Dogtopia raised more than $20,000 through an annual charity dog wash for the non-profit arm of the company, K-9 Support, which provides food and supplies to military dogs stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, Dogtopia and all its franchisees partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure throughout the month of October and dedicated a portion of all services to the cause - resulting in more than $7,000 given to breast cancer research.
"Investing in these organizations that help run the communities where Dogtopia locations serve is incredibly important to us," said Amy Nichols, CEO and Founder of Dogtopia. "Our culture is committed to giving back and Dogtopia and all our franchisees are extremely active in all types of community service."
On a local level, Dogtopia franchisees throughout the country established relationships with local rescue shelters, dog parks, schools and other organizations in dozens of communities. Together, Dogtopia owners raised a total of $23,000.
The Dogtopia concept was founded by Amy Nichols, who opened the first location in Tysons Corner, VA in June 2002. Under Nichols' leadership, vision and drive, Dogtopia has experienced overwhelming success and growth that led to the initial franchise offering of the concept in April 2005.
