NORTHPORT, NY, February 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) VizSec, the international conference on information visualization for cybersecurity, announced its Organizing Committee Chairs for the 8th Annual International Symposium on Visualization for Cyber Security (VizSec2011). The top-tier list brings together experts in information visualization and security to provide the only international forum on innovations in visualization technology to advance cyber security. This year's event will be held July 20, 2011 at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, in conjunction with the Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security (SOUPS 2011).
The VizSec2011 Symposium Chairs and Organizing Committee members are:
• General Chair Lt. Col. Gregory Conti, professor at the US Military Academy, director of West Point's Cyber Security Center, and author of Googling Security and Security Data Visualization, numerous security research papers, and the RUMINT visualization tool;
• Emeritus Chair John Gerth, Stanford University information visualization researcher and manager of the Computer Graphics Laboratory;
• Program Chair Tamara Yu, MIT Lincoln Laboratory data visualization researcher and a developer of the Lincoln Adaptable Real-time Information Assurance Testbed;
• Publication Chair Marc Abbott, IT Specialist at the US Military Academy at West Point;
• Publicity Chair Anita D'Amico, director of Secure Decisions division of Applied Visions, researcher in visual analytics to improve cyber defense decision-making.
"VizSec2011 is dedicated to bringing together government, academic and industry experts in visualization and security to exchange ideas on new developments and applications," said Lt. Col. Conti.
