FAIRFAX, VA, February 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) Ronald Cori, of Centreville, has won the grand prize in the "Dogs for Clean Water" photo contest, sponsored by the Northern Virginia Clean Water Partners, the group announced today. Mr. Cori wins $1,000 in free pet waste services after securing 38 votes for his photo "Enjoying the Clean NOVA waters." The Dogs for Clean Water photo contest was sponsored by Doody Calls, a home pet waste removal service headquartered in Charlottesville.
"We're working to ensure that all the streams and lakes in Northern Virginia are safe for dogs and their owners to enjoy together," said Laura Grape, who chairs the Northern Virginia Clean Water Partners. "When you remove pet waste from your yard, you are also helping keep our local streams free of disease causing germs,"
"We were proud to sponsor this competition that focused on the importance of responsible animal ownership," said Jacob D'Aniello, executive director of Doody Calls. "We appreciate the opportunity to get the word out that caring for your pet and doing your part for clean water, too."
The Northern Virginia Clean Water Partners conducted the essay contest in October and November to draw attention to the Northern Virginia Dog Blog, which the partners launched this year to reach out to pet owners and encourage proper disposal of dog waste. The contest was open to any resident of the sponsoring jurisdictions.

The Northern Virginia Clean Water Partners is a project of local governments in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. The partners encourage local residents to do their part to reduce water pollution by adopting environmentally behaviors -- such as proper disposal of pet waste. The Northern Virginia Regional Commission, a political subdivision within the Commonwealth of Virginia, chairs the partnership.
Since 2000, DoodyCalls has provided year-round professional pet waste removal service to residential yards, apartment communities, and Home Owner Associations (HOA). In 2004 we launched the first national pet waste removal franchise of it's kind.
The Northern Virginia Dog Blog is your source for K9 fun, information, and entertainment in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC. The Northern Virginia Regional Commission sponsors the Dog Blog on behalf of its member jurisdictions in Northern Virginia.
