Orlando Business SoftRock Affected by Egyptian Government Internet Blackout

Planned launch of revolutionary new modeling venture postponed indefinitely due to Egyptian Government's response to political turmoil.

2011-02-04
ORLANDO, FL, February 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) The recent political unrest in Cairo that is spreading throughout Egypt has dramatically impacted an Orlando business this past week. SoftRock, a 300+ employee software and website development firm has had the launch of its newest venture postponed indefinitely.

The company has designed a Facebook modeling application that will revolutionize the way models are discovered, which was originally planned to launch on January 27, 2011. Unfortunately, one of Softrock's key technical development offices in Alexandria, a few hours northeast of Cairo, has been unreachable since the Egyptian Government disabled all Internet access in and out of the country. Overseas resources in India and Egypt were allocated to this effort and without their support and the exchange of technical information, SoftRock has been left at a standstill throughout the duration of this potential revolution.

Softrock employees continue to work diligently on the application, however the new software expected to revolutionize the modeling industry has been stalled until further notice by Egypt's political turbulence.

Background of Principal: Alec Difrawi was born in 1964 in Cairo, Egypt and emigrated to Lexington, Kentucky in 1968; one of two sons whose parents attended graduate school for Physics at the University of Kentucky. Mr. Difrawi became a U.S. citizen in 1970 and attended college at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also received a paralegal degree from UCLA and a Juris Doctorate from LaSalle University.

In 2005, he started a venture that now employs over 300 domestic employees in addition to a center in India that employs hundreds more. Mr. Difrawi has always had a special affinity for his homeland, having just visited Cairo in the summer of 2010 and opened two offices in Egypt during the fall of 2010; Cairo for call center and administrative work, Alexandria for technical development.

About SoftRock: Founded in 1984 as a software company that designed user friendly interfaces and robust processing systems, the company soon won several military contracts to provide software for several high-level projects. For this work the company was vetted by the Defense Department and awarded secret clearance. SoftRock, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in Orlando, but with offices in Egypt and India.
