MIAMI, FL, February 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) Lawyers Project is a groundbreaking non-profit organization originated within the legal community aiming to serve as a global, philanthropic exchange by offering both an online fundraising program and face-to-face events for its members.
"Our intention behind this is two-fold. Firstly, we want to give lawyers, judges and everyone in the profession alike better opportunities to connect with nonprofits - in ways they haven't been offered before. Secondly, we want to hold the nonprofits we affiliate ourselves with more accountable by providing reports, photos and simple proof of where their donations are going" says founder Craig Dell, currently serving as Assistant State Attorney in Broward County. Craig and his father Steven Dell are the hearts behind Lawyers Project - as lawyers and philanthropists, they are looking to create a more visible platform in the giving back process that they feel is severely missing today for the legal community. Their extensive website is under strenuous construction along with the organization, as the founders are looking to sustain a long-lasting relationship amongst all donors and charities involved.
Advocates of Lawyers Project can sift through a directory of nonprofit organizations and from there choose to either volunteer their professional services, donate any given dollar amount, create a fundraising page for their business or attend upcoming events in their area with other members. All contributions raised will be made public, allowing everyone to see what legal firms and institutions are giving back to the community.
"We are well aware that anyone is capable of donating directly to a charity of their choice but we're filling the void in charitable giving for the legal profession as a whole - while allowing the entire process to be as transparent and flexible as possible" voices Craig.
"It's important for us to not only help the legal community maintain a better image in the charitable world but to also be deliberate in choosing the charities we affiliate ourselves with. Lawyers Project will require all nonprofit organizations to register and qualify according to specific guidelines set by our due diligence requirements" says Craig.
The February 11th event at the W Hotel in South Beach will be a way to allow the legal community in South Florida to know what's to come in the future and to find honest, interested individuals to be a part of the beginning phases of this promising venture started by the father and son duo.
