GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA, February 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) Some of the images taken by prolific Australian photojournalist Robert McFarlane will be displayed on the Gold Coast over the coming weeks.
The exhibition includes 90 of his best-loved and most interesting pictures, covering everything from the arrival of The Beatles in Sydney back in 1964 to key political figures such as Gough Whitlam and Bob Hawke.
His earliest snaps, taken in Adelaide during the late 1950s and early 60s, are an excellent example of the type of work popular with the period's iconic picture-driven magazines such as Esquire, Life and Look.
The installation can be seen at the Gold Coast City Art Gallery every day until March 20th 2011.
On March 4th, McFarlane will take the stage and discuss his works. He is scheduled to give two talks, with one session starting at 12:00 local time and the second at 18:00.
Visitors will not have to shell out a cent to look around the exhibition or for the special meet-and-greet with the photographer.
Opening times are between 10:00 and 17:00 on weekdays and from 11:00 to 17:00 on weekends.
Tourists looking for cheap accommodation near the arts space can head to LateRooms.com and choose from a broad and plentiful selection of Gold Coast accommodation.
