FORT WORTH, RX, February 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) (Fort Worth) February 15, 2011 - On Wednesday February 16, 2011, the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition (TCHC) will host its annual State of Homeless Address and Continuum of Care Public forum. The program will feature a welcome address by Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief. The event is open to the public and will take place at 9:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army Mabee Center, 1855 E. Lancaster Ave., in Fort Worth.
Concluding a monumental effort supported by more than 429 volunteers who counted homeless people across 86 routes throughout Tarrant County, TCHC will provide an overview of the intense efforts to reduce homelessness by City and County leaders, investments in supportive housing, innovative programs, and a strong network of agencies focused on ending homelessness. Representatives from the cities of Fort Worth, Arlington and Tarrant County will present updates on current homeless programs.
"Though the final report has not been completed, initial results confirm that homelessness is down," Cindy J. Crain, executive director of TCHC said. "Success is due to the implementation of many programs that effectively target specific needs of persons experiencing homelessness. The strengthening collaborations between non-profit agencies, government, the faith-based community and private business have resulted in meeting and exceeding our goals. People are moving off the streets and into safe and stable housing."
