This award is presented in recognition of Dr. Feldman's outstanding service to the Tampa community through his many professional, civic and charitable activities.
Dr. Feldman is a very active community leader in the Tampa area. In addition to being on the board of directors for Voices for Children and being a Guardian Ad Litem, he is a former President of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has established several programs for children throughout the community. As President of More Health, Inc., he helped create programs which promote health education and injury prevention for students in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. He established the Feldman Orthodontics Scholarship program, which has awarded college scholarships to area high school seniors for the past 20 years. He created a program to educate Hillsborough County school children about oral hygiene and prevention of oral cancer. In addition, he was heavily involved in the fluoridation of the Hillsborough County water supply in the mid-1980s. His latest endeavor has been to establish Kid ID in the Tampa Bay area as a free child identification system that stores your child's vital information in a secure electronic database for use by law enforcement.
"I'm both proud and surprised to have been selected for this honor. Being chosen to receive such an honor by one's professional peers is something that I never would have expected," said Dr. Feldman. "My contributions to our community, both professionally, civically and charitably have always been a labor of love and done without seeking recognition or reward. But this is a sincere honor, one that I am extremely proud of and I sincerely thank the HDCA for this award."
