To streamline charting and billing functions, Vega Medical Center selects the 2011 Waiting Room Solutions Web Based Internal Medicine Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management System V4.0

The Vega Medical Center has chosen the 2011 Waiting Room Solutions Web Based Internal Medicine EHR and PM V4.0. This Internal Medicine EHR and PM will allow the practice to streamline charting and billing functions for patient encounters.

2011-02-20
GOSHEN, NY, February 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) Waiting Room Solutions (WRS) (www.waitingroomsolutions.com), a leading web-based EHR and PM provider, announced today that Vega Medical Center has chosen to implement the 2011 Waiting Room Solutions Web Based Internal Medicine Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management System (PM) V4.0.

Vega Medical Center has been located in Miami, FL for over twenty years. This internal medicine practice is owned by its sole physician, Dr. Ramses Vega. Dr. Vega sees patients seven days a week in various settings including the office, hospitals, nursing homes and patient residences. The practice has not utilized an EHR system in the past, but is eager to integrate the easy-to-use WRS system. With this system, Dr. Vega hopes to improve charting and streamline the billing cycle by strengthening the connection between the two functions.

2011 Waiting Room Solutions Web Based EHR and Practice Management System V4.0 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on January 11, 2011 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT ). It is also a CCHIT Certified 2011 Ambulatory EHR additionally certified for Child Health with a four star rating for usability. The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). "The Medicare and Medicaid Incentives for EMR / EHR adoption offer an unparalleled opportunity for Eligible Providers to implement tools which can help improve healthcare quality and efficiency" said Dr. Lawrence Gordon, CEO of Waiting Room Solutions. "We are so thrilled with the announcement that we are offering a special limited time 'WRS Stimulus' incentive of $1000 for all small practices that sign-up."

Additionally, the Waiting Room Solution Internal Medicine Specialty EHR and PM has been specially designed to fulfill the administrative, clinical, billing and network needs of an internal medicine practice. For charting, WRS offers internal medicine templates and comprehensive clinical content for quick charting. For laboratory and radiology functions, the system offers EKG, PFT and laboratory device integration, as well as interfaces with labs such as Quest and Labcorp. Furthermore, the WRS software contains e-prescribing, patient portal, order tracking, and PQRI incentive reporting capabilities, all of which enhance practice operations and efficiency.

With the Waiting Room Solutions Internal Medicine EHR and PM, Vega Medical Center will be able to improve the accuracy and speed of recordkeeping. Since the WRS software is web-based, Dr. Vega will be able to reach and edit his records during all patient encounters, regardless of physical location. Dr. Vega will also be able to fulfill his goal of integrating hospital notes into his own records, creating more comprehensive accounts of his patients' histories. Additionally, the internal medicine specific templates, CPT coding and ICD-9 crosswalks integrated into the system will ensure that all appointments and procedures are recorded to accurately reflect the services provided.

While these charting features ensure that visits are properly documented and capture all charges correctly, the WRS billing module and credentialing service ensure that the revenue cycle is completed timely and correctly. The module automatically receives charges, cross checks them to payer rules, and enters them for claim submission without dual entry by staff. The electronic patient statements are automatically posted to a queue for viewing through the auto-posting feature, and claim scrubbers reduce errors on claims in order to speed processing. Lastly, the practice will take advantage of the WRS credentialing service's auto-eligibility feature in order to check patients for insurance coverage. This is especially useful for instantly checking the eligibility of walk-in patients, which Dr. Vega sees regularly.

"Vega Medical Center has expressed the need for a system that will reduce problems with timely filing and will increase reimbursements, and the Waiting Room Solutions EHR and PM provides these services," said Dr. Lawrence Gordon, founder and CEO of Waiting Room Solutions. "We are confident that our charting and billing systems will allow the practice to achieve these goals."
