JAVEA, SPAIN, February 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) One of several UK's top children's causes, the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF), has a added reason to remember its 30th anniversary this coming year following getting given a GBP100,000 grant from Ladbrokes Bookmaker within the Community Charitable Trust.
BAAF, which provides services so helping to locate families for hundreds of The uk's most vulnerable children and young people every year, is marking a significant milestone since its humble beginnings in 1980 with a number of events along with fundraising programs. Amongst them, a London to Paris sponsored bike journey, which it is hoped will generate substantial awareness and which Ladbrokes will be stimulating its staff to participate in. The GBP100,000 grant, one of the most significant given by Ladbrokes within the Community Charitable Trust (LICCT), helps to support BAAF during this important 12 months and beyond.
LICCT is related to wagering and gaming company Ladbrokes and looks to provide funds to charities, particularly those who offer sports activities or leisure to the handicapped or disadvantaged. It has provided a massive GBP4.1m to charity since its creation in 2003.
Diane Gault, Fundraising Director for BAAF said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the grant from LICCT, helping to make a massive difference to a tremendous number of disadvantaged children throughout the UK. We are a charity that relies on the kindness of others to enable us to continue to provide important services such as getting families for children and advising potential adopters and foster parents."
Richard Royal, Leader of Public Affairs at Ladbrokes explained: "Ladbrokes is well known as a provider of entertainment and leisure activities that many people enjoy but its wider impact can often be overlooked. Many of our shops act as community hubs and we do an awful lot of charitable and community work, supporting hundreds of charities throughout the UK, employing 14,000 people and making a massive contribution to the economy. I am touched by the amazing work that BAAF does and am delighted to present them with this grant which I know will make a massive difference to thousands of adults and children for years to come."
