20 innovative technology companies operating throughout Scotland joined over 50, 000 senior leaders from across the mobile industries from 200 countries in attendance at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, which took place between 14 - 17 February 2011. The event included a global thought leadership conference, a product exhibition featuring over 1300 international companies, a sector specific 4 day App Planet event, and the Global Mobile Awards. Industry heavyweights from Google to Nokia, Intel and Microsoft made appearances, strengthening the importance of the industry transforming event within the mobile and wider industries. The delegates were treated to a number of insightful speeches by some of the most highly respected industry greats including Stephen Elop, President and CEO of Nokia, Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft and Eric Schmidt, Chairman and CEO of Google and Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter.
