LateRooms.com - See Swan Lake at Bournemouth Pavilion

Bournemouth is set to welcome the Moscow Ballet - La Classique for a performance of Swan Lake in October.

2010-09-07
BOURNEMOUTH, ENGLAND, September 07, 2010 (Press-News.org) People staying in Bournemouth hotels will have a chance to see one of the world's most famous ballets next month.

On Monday October 11th, the Moscow Ballet - La Classique are set to perform Swan Lake at the south coast resort's Pavilion Theatre.

Described by the venue as "the ultimate ballet fairytale", Swan Lake has captivated audiences and thrilled dance lovers since it was first performed in the Russian capital in 1877.

The ballet was written by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who based his story on Russian folk tales and German legend.

Swan Lake was the first of the Russian composer's famous trio of ballets, with Sleeping Beauty following in 1889 and The Nutcraker receiving its premiere three years later.

However, for many lovers of the art, the familiar story of a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse remains Tchaikovsky's most accessible and enjoyable work.

It has been adapted for the stage and screen, as well as appearing in countless versions around the world.

The Pavilion Theatre has promised to deliver a "dramatic production of this timeless favourite" for everyone heading to next month's performance.

Tickets are currently priced at GBP22 and the show will begin at 19:30 BST.
