FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, March 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) "Alligator" Ron Bergeron, a successful entrepreneur, rodeo competitor and conservationist, has been named the Corporate Honorary Chair for the 2011 Let's Move Together Arthritis Walk Broward.
Bergeron runs more than three dozen companies under the Bergeron Family of Companies including Bergeron Land Development, Bergeron Park of Commerce and Industry and Bergeron Emergency Services. Bergeron Family of Companies is a second-year sponsor for the Broward Arthritis Walk which aims to raise $50,000 to serve the more than 365,000 adults and children in Broward County affected by arthritis.
"I am delighted to partner with the Arthritis Foundation because I fully support and believe in their mission to find a cure for arthritis with efforts towards prevention and improving the quality of life for arthritis patients," said Bergeron, who suffered from severe arthritis for more than eight years prior to joint replacement surgery.
Bergeron is a fourth generation Floridian who never strays far from his "country" roots in Davie where Bergeron Rodeo Grounds and Entertainment Center is the town's main tourist attraction. He has been a tireless advocate for the preservation and restoration of the Florida Everglades and is a member of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Everglades Coordinating Council. He also is involved with the Old Davie School Historical Museum, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Nova Entrepreneur Program.
The 2011 Let's Move Together Arthritis Walk Broward is scheduled for April 30 at Markham Park in Sunrise, Fla. The event raises money to help the Arthritis Foundation, Broward/Miami-Dade Region office provide services including summer camp for children with juvenile arthritis, community outreach, local programs, health education and arthritis research.
