GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA, March 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) Sports enthusiasts can experience the thrill of canoe racing at the Gold Coast Cup.

Visitors to the area can see competitions take place on Saturday May 28th and Sunday May 29th. Races on the first day begin at 07:10 local time after a blessing of the fleet.

The course is set up along the Gold Coast seaway, taking in Northcliffe Paddle Site, The Spit and Greenmount Beach.

Women's and mixed teams will kick off proceedings and the men will steer their boats out in time for a 07:30 start.

Sunday's events begin at 09:30 with a long course, before the short course sets off at 11:30.

Those attending the Gold Coast Cup can see the winners of each race crowned at the official presentation in the Sunset Bar and Cafe at the Marina Mirage where the after party is also held.

The prizes are set to total more than AU$20,000, according to organisers. A Hawaiian themed get-together is scheduled after the weekend's competition and hand-out of the awards.

One ticket has been allocated to each competition member and additional passes can be bought for AU$25.
