Social travel site gtrot.com launches âEURœgtrot DealsâEUR to help travelers take advantage of daily deals for locals

There are hundreds of daily deals now being offered but no easy way to sort through them when you're on the road, until now. Chicago-based startup gtrot.com launches an easy way for travelers to save money on their next trip.

2011-03-10
CHICAGO, IL, March 10, 2011 (Press-News.org) Social travel site gtrot.com announced today the public launch of gtrot Deals, a feature that connects travelers with the best daily deals in their destinations.

"There are literally hundreds of daily deal sites, like Groupon and LivingSocial, that offer huge savings to locals," said Brittany Laughlin, co-founder of gtrot. "We make these deals accessible to travelers, hand-picking the best ones and sending them straight to usersâEUR inboxes in advance of their trip."

Travelers who share plans on gtrot will receive a daily email starting 10 days before their trip with the best deals available for purchase that day and redeemable in their destination.

"This feature is yet another benefit of sharing travel plans with friends on gtrot.com," said Zachary Smith, co-founder and CEO. "Now users can find Facebook friends with overlapping plans, get advice from friends who have been to their destination, and discover great deals on everything from events and activities to restaurants and nightlife."

Previously, travelers hoping to take advantage of local daily deals would have to subscribe to the city's feed on various deal sites, sort through multiple emails every day for relevant offers, and then unsubscribe after their trip. "We take out all the leg work, find only the most relevant deals for travelers from hundreds of sites, and email them to users until the end of their trip," explained Laughlin. "This feature will open up daily deals to many more travelers and save them hundreds of dollars as they explore their destinations."

The gtrot Deals feature currently covers 20 destinations in the U.S., and the company is in talks with major deal sites to add support for international cities in the coming weeks.
