Exlar Tritex II AC Powered Electro-Mechanical Actuators Now Offer UL Listing
2011-03-11
CHANHASSEN, MN, March 11, 2011 (Press-News.org) Exlar announces its Tritex II AC-powered electric actuators with positioning electronics are now UL Listed under file number E325731. Underwriters Laboratory is an independent testing laboratory with more than 100 years of product certification experience. Their product safety evaluations involve a comprehensive review of important safety issues, such as electrical shock, fire hazards and performance when it is inherent to safe product operation.

Tritex II actuators combine a brushless servomotor with either rotary or linear (output) actuation and Exlar's digital position control. All elements are assembled into a single, compact waterproof housing. Tritex II actuators with their built-in mechanical converters eliminate the need for traditional ball screw or gear reducer mechanisms, providing a complete system solution. Incorporating all the required position control and power electronics into the actuator also eliminates the external servo amplifier and the cables associated with a typical servo system.

The new Tritex II actuators operate from 100-240VAC, allowing direct connection to factory power sources. Enhanced software features include 16 programmable indexes, linked moves and firmware flash upgrade capability via the actuator's Modbus port. This port--via the RS/485 protocol--allows complete control, programming and monitoring of all aspects of the Tritex II actuator as it performs an application. Planned communications options include Modbus, Ethernet IP, HART, Modbus TCPIP, CAN Open, and CAN J1939 protocols.

The Tritex II actuator has ample I/O capability: eight digital inputs, four digital outputs, plus one analog input and output. Feedback choices include analog hall effect (standard) and an incremental encoder for high positioning resolution. The new Tritex II design offers excellent connectivity with internal terminals accessible through the actuator's removable cover. Tritex II also offers provision for imperial or metric threaded ports for cable sealing glands, optional M23/M16 connectors for power and I/O, and an M8 connector for the RS485 port.

Exlar Corporation designs, manufactures and sells linear and rotary motion products worldwide. For general product information, contact Exlar Corporation, 1470 Lake Drive West, Chanhassen, MN 55317, phone 952-368-3434, and fax 952-368-4877. Visit our website at www.exlar.com.
