PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, March 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Prague's O2 Arena will welcome two giants of the thrash metal genre on Sunday April 10th.
Slayer and Megadeth are due to perform at the venue as part of their co-headlining tour European Carnage 2011, which kicked off in Kiev earlier this month.
Both bands have legions of devoted followers across the continent.
Along with Metallica and Anthrax, they form the 'big four' of thrash - the American groups credited with developing and popularising the style among heavy metal fans during the 1980s.
Megadeth formed in 1983 after Dave Mustaine left Metallica in acrimonious circumstances.
The guitarist created a new group with the intention of challenging his former band and their first LP Killing Is My Business ... and Business Is Good! came out in 1985.
Slayer also emerged during the early 1980s and achieved a major breakthrough with Reign in Blood, their 1986 major label debut.
Produced by Rick Rubin, the album was viewed as a new benchmark for heavy metal at the time and is still considered one of the genre's most influential releases.
Tickets for European Carnage in Prague are priced between 890 Czech koruna and 1,290 Czech koruna (GBP31.60 and GBP45.80). The show will begin at 20:00 local time.
Fans can visit LateRooms.com for a large selection of Prague hotels, including the Hotel Tosca Prague.
