Small Business Recovery Act Difficult to Quantify-- Neumann Associates Says

2011-03-19
The 2009 tax breaks President Barack Obama signed into law should have bolstered many small businesses. Instead two years later, there is still confusion, and according to many, underutilized opportunities. Most small businesses agree that the Recovery Act's impact is difficult to quantify. While a number of companies credit their survival during the turbulence of the past two years to the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, many are skeptical. They contend that the law - over a thousand pages — is onerous and limited in many areas where they were hoping to see more. Most ...

Forty two percent do not have plans to reinstate their match this year. It should be noted that when asked this question one year ago, over half (53%) of the employers ...

Obama Flip-flops on Tort Reform in Medical Malpractice Lawsuits

2011-03-19
Obama Flip-flops on Tort Reform in Medical Malpractice Lawsuits (January 30, 2011) President Barack Obama appears to have finally caved in to the conservative medical lobby fighting for so-called tort reform. For the first time during his recent "State of the Union" speech he stated that he was now in favor of tort reform in medical malpractice cases limiting the rights of victims to seek monetary damages. This is a total about face from his previous stance which opposed limiting patients damages. It is clear that Obama's change reflects his desire to be re-elected ...

But I Thought I had Full Insurance Coverage on my Car

2011-03-19
But I Thought I had Full Insurance Coverage on my Car Several years ago the State of Illinois enacted a mandatory insurance law requiring liability coverage for all motorists and vehicles. At first glance the law appears to address the problem of injuries caused to other motorists and pedestrians by uninsured drivers. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth.
