SAN DIEGO, CA, March 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) Founded in the 1990s, Bakhresa Food Products Ltd is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and is split into three divisions - ice cream, water and juice.

The Bakhresa Group was founded by Said Salim Awadh Bakhresa in the mid 1970s. The company's flagship brand produces 'Azam' brand ice creams, fruit juices and frozen chapattis and 'Uhai' brand bottled water. The company is also expanding its operations into the carbonated drinks (CSD) market.

Bakhresa group has today emerged as one of the largest private sector industrial groups in Tanzania and one of the largest providers of employment in the private sector with just under 1,000 employees.

Bakhresa Food Ltd (BFPL) exports to Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Burundi, and Tanzania using its own trucks.

The company's mantra is very clear - to make international quality standard products that are "available to masses at their door steps and at a very reasonable price".

As Chief Executive Officer Salim Aziz explains, "Our brand name "Azam" is very strong in Tanzania, it's a household name.

"We make quality products that are affordable - but not cheap. We don't compromise on quality."

The company's foray into the carbonated drinks market will mean an increase in trucks and staff numbers along with the creation of a new plant in Dar es Salaam.
