Scranton Attorney Michael J. Kowalski Supports Several Northeastern Pennsylvania Organizations in Leadership Roles

SCRANTON, PA, March 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) Scranton, Pa. lawyer Michael J. Kowalski has been elected an officer of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (NEPaTLA), an association encompassing 12 counties of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the trial lawyers who serve the region. A shareholder with the Pennsylvania law firm of Scartelli, Distasio & Kowalski, P.C., Kowalski has served on the NEPaTLA Board of Directors since 1998. In addition to serving his profession through the NEPaTLA, Kowalski has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the 2011 MDA Diamond Black & Blue Ball, a fundraiser benefitting the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He will also serve on the Black & Blue Ball Committee. Proceeds raised will provide services that aid children and adults affected by neuromuscular diseases including research, support groups, physical and other therapies, healthcare, medical equipment repair and summer camp.

Kowalski is an experienced trial and appellate attorney who represents individuals and their families in personal injury matters. His areas of focus include medical malpractice, automobile and truck accidents, nursing home negligence, medication errors, defective medical devices, premises liability and psychiatric malpractice. Kowalski also counsels and represents clients in insurance bad faith and insurance denial matters.

In addition to holding leadership positions with NEPaTLA, Kowalski served on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (formerly the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association) from 2004 through 2007. He is a member of the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association Civil Rules Committee. Kowalski is also a past recipient of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Outstanding Leadership Award. In 2009 and 2010, he was recognized by Thomson Reuters as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer , published annually in Philadelphia magazine. Kowalski is licensed to practice throughout the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania, and before the United States Supreme Court.
