New England String Quartet dedicates an original piece to Boston University Professor H. Eugene Stanley during "Horizons in Emergence & Scaling" Symposium and Gala

HORIZONS, written by the New England String Quartet and dedicated to Prof. H. Eugene Stanley, received its world premiere at "Horizons in Emergence & Scaling" Gala on March 19, 2011 during the celebration of Prof. H. Eugene Stanley's contributions to diverse areas in statistical physics, neuroscience, econophysics, physiology and networks on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Established in Boston, Massachusetts, the NEW ENGLAND STRING QUARTET is one of the most active chamber music ensembles in the area performing both classical and contemporary music. Members of the quartet are winners of numerous international competitions in the United States and abroad who are dedicated to promoting and expanding professional chamber music experience. In Boston, the quartet works on creating strong ties with contemporary music composers, collaborates with soloists and ensembles, and presents a wide variety of original projects, as well as community and youth education events. http://www.nestringquartet.com

JULIA OKRUSKO, 1st violinist of the New England String Quartet, was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, and received her Master's Degree and Performance Diploma from Boston University studying with Dana Mazurkevich. Winner of national and international violin competitions, Julia has performed in Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Holland, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, and the United States.
