MEZA, AZ, March 25, 2011 (Press-News.org) East Valley Naturopathic Doctors (EVND), a premier medical facility in Mesa, Ariz., is offering a free lecture series for Valley residents focusing on healthy eating, healthy cooking, food allergens and illnesses. EVND will offer the lecture series each month and revise topics and content based on feedback from patients and the community. The goal of the series is to help one stay healthy through clean living.
The lecture series entitled "Clean Living" will take place the second Saturday of each month starting April 9, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The location will be at EVND office, located at 5416 E. Southern Avenue. Confirmed lecture series topics include:
• Healthy Eating for Your Family: Eating the wrong foods can negatively impact your health, but what exactly are the right foods? Say yes to organic and no to pesticide and genetically modified foods. Learn which fruits and vegetables are best to buy and which foods are commonly genetically modified. What are the common myths behind "all organic is good?"
• Healthy Cooking Starts with Your Pots and Pans: Are your pots and pans making you sick? Learn what cookware is best to prepare your food in and what the best food storage containers are that won't contaminate your food with chemicals.
• Food Allergens and Illness: Are common food allergens contributing to your fatigue, allergies, and pain; and how allergens contribute to ADHD, ear infections, eczema, and autism? We will discuss the most common food allergens and how they can directly impact your health as well as wonderful alternatives that taste great.
"We decided to launch a free lecture series because it is so important when you look at overall prevention to make sure people are paying attention to the products they use," says Dr. Jennifer Nevels, naturopathic doctor at EVND. "People generally don't pay attention to their health until something goes wrong. We are here to tell the community that early prevention is key to fighting off diseases and staying healthy long-term."
Nevels goes on to say, "We will take one hour each month to discuss personal experiences as well as data about why it is important to be choosy about your food consumption, water, beauty products, deodorant, cookware, cleaning products, etc., as these can all negatively impact your health as well as the health of those around you. We hope that the information provided will empower people to make small changes to fit their current lifestyles, and to make strides towards a healthier 'you and world'."
EVND is the largest group practice of alternative physicians in the East Valley and continues to grow as word spreads of their friendly, effective naturopathic practices. A key differentiator is their effort to educate their patients and the community on the importance of prevention as a way to fight disease. In 2011, EVND is launching several tools that Valley residents can leverage to get timely, free and helpful advice from the practice's seven naturopathic physicians, beginning with their new blog and continuing with the lecture series.
RSVPs are recommended for the lecture series. To RSVP, email info@eastvalleynd.com with your name and the number of people attending.
