KD Country to Broadcast 44th Annual Brookneal Fire Department Marathon Fundraiser

KD Country will host live from Brookneal Fire Department on April 2nd to raise money to go towards maintaining and upgrading supplies for the local volunteer firefighters. Come out to show your support and enjoy live music and food.

RALEIGH, NC, March 27, 2011 (Press-News.org) For the 16th consecutive year, KD Country 105.5 FM will broadcast live from the Brookneal Fire Department's annual Marathon Fundraiser on Saturday, April 2nd from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The 44th annual fundraiser is open to the entire community and will feature live music, BBQ and chicken plates for $8 each, and a variety of baked goods for sale.

"Our goal this year is to raise $12,500, which will go towards maintaining fire equipment and upgrading supplies for our local volunteer firefighters," said Brookneal Fire Department Chief Dean Guthrie. "Our community, along with KD Country has shown a lot of generosity over the years and we look forward to another successful event."

WKDE's Dave Hoehne, Jay Daniels and Tina Levalley will be broadcasting live from the Brookneal Fire Department on Wickliffe Avenue throughout the event and will announce all pledges on-air.

Tax deductible donations to the fire department can be made by calling 434-376-2199 or 434- 376-2656. Donations can also be made in-person at the Marathon.

"The Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department is a huge asset to our community and we salute them," said Hoehne, WKDE General Manager. "KD country is looking forward to helping their fund raising efforts again this year and we invite everyone to stop by the fire house and join us for this celebration."
