Breakaway From Cancer charity event by Pacific Meso Center

The Dana Point Community Cycling Foundation in partnership with Amgen's Breakaway From Cancer initiative is hosting a premiere event on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 6pm-8pm at The Dana Point Yacht Club, preceding the nationally recognized Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling in downtown Dana Point on Sunday, May 1st. The evening's ticket includes food, drinks, entertainment and a fabulous silent auction. Proceeds from this year's event directly benefit Amgen's Breakaway From Cancer and the Pacific Meso Center (PMC) at Pacific Heart, Lung & Blood Institute in Los Angeles. PMC is a 501 (3) non-profit institution focused on the prevention and treatment of mesothelioma, a deadly lung cancer, caused by exposure to asbestos.

The Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling event is on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 7am-4pm. Professionals, amateurs and children will race around downtown Dana Point on the best bicycle race course in America overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Over $30,000 in cash and prizes awarded. Food and drinks, banner signing, visors and bracelets for cancer survivors, and loads of free fun for the entire family. Immediately following the women's race, there will be a special walk recognizing the everyday triumphs of people winning the battle against cancer. The Break Away From Cancer Walk is at 3:45pm.
