Kids Show Off Their Karate Skills -- By Breaking Boards

Students at The Dojo of Karate & Fitness show off their confidence, focus, and determination by breaking wooden boards.

2011-04-03
WESTMINSTER, CO, April 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) Are you interested in helping your child gain more self-confidence?

How about teaching them the importance of goal setting skills & determination?

Local martial arts school owner Javier Lozano, Jr. created a great program designed to help children gain confidence, learn determination, display laser-like focus... all while having fun in Karate.

The Dojo of Karate & Fitness will be hosting their Annual Board Breaking Seminar this month on Friday, April 8th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Students of The Dojo of Karate will have an opportunity to break 10 boards with various techniques, such as hammer fist strikes, palm heel strikes, stomps, side kicks, and many more.

Last year, Sensei Lozano showed off the skill of breaking a board... over his head.

And, for the first time this year, Mr. Lozano will be allowing children in the community that are non-students of The Dojo of Karate to come by and break a board... and no experience is necessary.

Sound scary...?

It really isn't.

Last year, The Dojo of Karate was featured on Fox 31 News: Good Day Colorado with Dan Daru. All of the students that participated in the live filming of the morning show broke boards for the very first time and were very successful in their attempts to break boards on live television. Many of these students had trained for less then 6 months, while others were nearing the 1 year mark.

And, though our school may not be featured on another news station this year, children interested in learning more about Karate will have a chance to actually test their skills against a board, while being coached by a 3rd degree black belt with over 20 years of training experience, and 17 plus years of teaching knowledge - Sensei Lozano.

"What I truly enjoy about the board breaking seminars we host at The Dojo of Karate is how much confidence our students begin to gain after they start breaking 1 or 2 boards" says Lozano. "They finally realize that it's really not that bad, and all of a sudden they are trying to break 2 or 3 boards at a time. Their confidence begins to sore. And, if they fail, they continue to try. It's just awesome to see our students display that focus and determination."

The Dojo of Karate tries to host various events that gets the school together as a community. Several of the students and parents are friends outside of the dojo, and this allows them to interact with one another. Plus, it allows for the parents to actually come onto the floor and watch their child do some amazing stuff. A great way to simply capture the moment.

The Dojo of Karate has been offering martial arts training for kids, teens, and adults, women self-defense classes, and fitness boot camps since 2008.

Kids can start taking Karate as young as 4.5 years old, as they offer different programs for age groups.

The school is located in the Safeway Shopping Center on the northeast corner of 128th Avenue and Zuni Street, in Westminster/Broomfield.

To learn more about their various Martial Arts programs, Women Self-Defense courses, and Fitness Boot Camps, please feel free to contact them at: 303.920.4500.

The Dojo of Karate is a locally owned and operated martial arts school in Westminster, CO.
